About this project

Three progressively harder levels with running, jumping, dashing and wall-sliding, coyote time and jump buffering. Glitch Hoppers, Static Drones and Corrupt Bugs, spikes, toggling lasers and energy pits, moving, falling, bounce and phase platforms, checkpoints, signal bits and data cores. A CRT-styled retro look, touch-first controls and saved progress.

Why it was built

Part of Model Arena #01. Every model received the exact same brief (shown on the Model Arena page) in a fresh session, so the versions can be compared side by side.

How it was built

Built by Claude Sonnet 5.5 (effort: high) in a Claude Code cloud session from the Model Arena #01 brief, and delivered as a pull request with a single commit containing the complete game.

Stack: Plain HTML5 Canvas and JavaScript (classic scripts, one file per system: game loop, level manager, camera, tilemap, entities, sprites, audio, UI), Web Audio for synthesized sound and music, localStorage for saved progress. No game engine, no dependencies, no build step, no image files: every sprite is drawn in code. Styling adds CRT effects and responsive touch controls.

Curated and published by Ezkielyna Lab.

Notes

Notes from the model's pull request:

A fixed-timestep game loop with configurable physics substeps keeps collisions stable across frame rates, with a state machine for menu, playing, paused, game over and level complete.

Sprites are generated at runtime from integer span lists instead of pre-rendered images, and the whole soundtrack and sound effects are synthesized with Web Audio.

Particle pooling, entity culling and optimized collision checks aim for smooth 60 fps, and the touch UI hides automatically on devices with a fine pointer.

Feedback the maker is looking for

Play it next to the other versions. How do the jump and dash feel? Which level design, art direction and menus work best for you?

Comments are opening soon. Until then, share your thoughts in the community groups.
